National City is a city in San Diego, California that is located 5 miles south of downtown San Diego, on San Diego Bay in southern San Diego County, and 10 miles north of Baja California, Mexico.  The City is bordered by San Diego to the north and east, Chula Vista to the south, the unincorporated areas of Lincoln Acres and Bonita to the south and southeast, and San Diego Bay to the west.

National City is the second oldest community in San Diego and features historic sites, rich Victorian architecture, restaurants rich in history and funky flea market shopping. National City is located just minutes from Downtown San Diego and all of San Diego’s biggest attractions. Being centrally located and just minutes from Downtown San Diego makes National City close enough and far enough away from it all—and at a more affordable price.

The story of National City is actually a Kimball story. The Kimball brothers Warren, Levi and Frank were New Hampshire natives who made their way West and purchased 30,000 acres of land and developed it into the upscale community National City. The Kimball’s are accredited for building the first roads and railroad in National City. They also implemented the first post office, library, and import-export wharf and brought to the area trees that are planted throughout the city that can still be seen in present day.

Frank A Kimball House Museum & Brick Row: Soak up some National City history by visiting the Frank A. Kimball House Museum and Brick Row located across the street from the founder’s historical home. Kimball, accredited founder of National City, built the first house in the South Bay area that had indoor plumbing and built what is known as “Brick Row”, a stretch of 10-connected four bedroom homes made for railroad executives from the East Coast. Visit these historic sites on Saturday and Sundays between 11am and 1pm.

National City Depot: The historic National City Depot Museum is open Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. The Santa Fe station, previously known as the California Southern Railway, was the first terminus of transcontinental rail travel in San Diego and is the oldest railroad structure and still in its original location.

National City Golf Course: known as a hidden gem of National City, National City Golf Course is a public 9-hole golf course suited for beginners and advanced players. Best described by American Golf’s website: “With on par five, 5 par fours, and three par 3’s, National City Golf Course allows you to use every club in the bag, while being accessible to younger players and the casual golfer”.

National City Parks: National City is the home to many iconic parks. Our Clients Feedback

  • The movers arrived when expected for both pickup and delivery. I appreciate the communication from the driver. They were polite and courteous. This was my first time having used long distance movers, usually we do it ourselves, so I was nervous. It was all easier than I anticipated.
