One of the most anxiety-inducing aspects of a move is moving to a new locale you are unfamiliar with. Moving across the country puts you in a new atmosphere and it can be a bit tough to get the lay of the land and feel at home in your new place.
Luckily, there are a ton of activities to do for people who have just moved to Palm Springs, CA. Here is a list of some of our favorite activities and locales for people moving across the country to the area to check out.
Visit the Living Desert Zoo & Gardens
Located just a few miles outside of Palm Springs, the Living Desert Zoo & Gardens is a must-visit for new inhabitants. The environment is split between North American and African environments, and several animals roam free for your viewing pleasure. You can also do giraffe feedings and camel rides. General admission is $20 per person and there are discounts available for seniors (62+) and young children (3-12). Children under 3 get admitted for free. Parking is also free, which is a nice touch.
Take a Hike at Tahquitz Canyon
If you are the outdoorsy type then Plam Springs has a number of beautiful natural landscapes you can explore. One of these is the Tahquitz Canyon, located within the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Native American reservation. There is a $12 admission fee but the trail is perfectly maintained with these fees. The canyon is home to a spectacular 60-foot waterfall, rock art, ancient irrigation systems, and several native wildlife and plants. You can spend hours exploring the natural beauty in Tahquitz and one of the surrounding canyons. After moving across the country, a day of outdoor relaxation might be just what you need.
