Make your Move-in Day Easier for Yourself, your Family, and your Irvine Movers

Tips from your local Irvine movers that can take the stress out of your next move

Moving is often a stressful experience for families, and at Republic, we’ve worked with lots of clients who thought the stress would be over once the organizing, decluttering, and packing was over. Don’t be surprised by the logistics you’ll need to handle on move-in day. Having a solid plan for your move-in day can make the whole process easier. Your local Irvine movers have put together this list to help you navigate your immediate needs after you move.

Make plans with your real estate agent or landlord. Whether you’re renting or buying, you’ll need to complete a final walk-through of your new home in order to take possession. Take photographs as you walk through to document the state of the home before you take possession. Look for damage on carpet, flooring, walls, doorways, bathroom fixtures, and appliances.

Plan for childcare or pet care if you need it. One way to help your move-in day be less stressful is to make sure you’re fully able to concentrate on your tasks that day. Our Irvine movers are also instructed to prioritize the safety of children and pets if they are present during a move, so having pets or kids in a different space while the move occurs can speed the process up. If a friend or relative can provide care for the children or pets in your household, you can set your mind at ease that those you love are in good hands while you take care of your moving logistics.

Organize your utility connections. It helps to have opened your utility accounts in advance of your move-in day, and schedule your hook-ups for water, gas, electricity, and more for the actual day of your move. If there will be technicians at your home for any reason, make sure to keep a schedule of when they’re expected to arrive. Don’t forget to schedule internet and cable installations, too!

Make dinner plans. This is often overlooked, but will make your whole family happier after a day of many changes and adjustments. For many families, this is also the first meal together in a new home! Find a small way to celebrate the occasion, whether that’s ordering a favorite cuisine into your new home, or going out to a favorite restaurant to celebrate.

If you’re getting ready to make a residential move, the Irvine movers at Republic are here to help. We can assist with long-distance moves, including cross country or interstate, as well as smaller distance moves for households of any size. Call Republic today to begin your free moving quote.
