San Diego Gas and Electric (SDGE) is the leading gas and electric company in Oceanside. Founded in 1881, SDGE serves more than three million customers in San Diego and Orange counties.
Transfer or Start SDGE Service
You can start your SDGE account using the company’s website. You will need your Social Security number as well as your address and other personal information.
You can also transfer your service from an existing address to a new one by using a company portal. You may need to provide a letter of credit history, a letter of residency, and other documents.
SDGE Bill Pay
SDGE has a tiered system for electric bills. Most residential customers pay 45.2 cents for every kilowatt-hour of electricity, as long as they use less than 130% of the baseline energy amount. After using 130% of the baseline, customers pay 57 cents per kilowatt-hour.
SDGE offers ways to save money. If you have solar panels, you can apply for net energy metering. When your panels make excess electricity, you can sell the power to SDGE, and the company will give you credits toward your bill. You can buy a Time-of-Use plan that reduces your prices for off-peak electric use.
If you’re having a hard time paying your bill, SDGE offers financial assistance. SDGE’s CARE program can help you save 30% or more on your energy bills. To qualify, you must have a low income level or use public assistance programs. If you don’t qualify, you can use other programs for assistance.
Oceanside Gas Company | San Diego Gas and Electric
SDGE also provides natural gas services for Oceanside residents. You can follow the same procedures written above to start an account for gas services and pay for your gas bill. You can set up electricity and natural gas simultaneously.
SDGE Bill Pay
Like its electricity rates, SDGE rates for natural gas are in a tiered system. The baseline for residential customers is $2.00 per therm before the baseline. If you need more gas, you will pay $2.33 a therm over the baseline. SDGE also charges a minimum bill of 13 cents every day, regardless of how much gas you use.
The City of Oceanside’s Water Utilities Department provides water and wastewater services for all residents in the Oceanside water district and the best Oceanside neighborhoods. The department buys water from the San Diego County Water Authority (SDCWA) and filters the water through its own filtration plant. There is no major Oceanside water company.
Transfer or Start Oceanside Water Service
You can start receiving services by calling 760-435-3900. You can also visit the Water Utilities Department at 300-C North Ditmar Street, City Hall East, and set up your account in person.
You should make your request at least two working days in advance of when you want your water. You must pay a $55.00 set-up fee. If the city ever turns off your water, you can request to have it turned on the same day before 2:00 p.m., though you must pay a $50.00 reinstatement fee. After 2:00 p.m., you can receive same-day service after paying a $236.00 fee. You must also pay a deposit based on the size of your water meter unless you provide proof of ownership.
Oceanside Water Bill Pay
Oceanside’s residential rates are based on how much water you use and how big your meter is. You pay $2.65 per unit until you use 13 units, with one unit equaling 748 gallons. After you use 13 units, you must pay $3.56 per unit. The bigger your meter size is, the more money you need to pay. The SDCWA charges a surcharge of $2.60 for each unit of water, regardless of how big your meter is. You also must pay $0.25 for each unit of water in watershed protection fees.
A household pays $19.56 a year for wastewater. Each account holder pays a customer charge of $7.28. The flow charge varies depending on how many units of wastewater you need; if you use up to four units, you pay $19.79 a year. The city offers rebates for residents who use high-efficiency washers, toilets, and other devices.
Waste Management of North County provides Oceanside trash pickup services for all residents. You can receive one 35-gallon landfill cart, two green waste carts of any size, and three recycling carts of any size. You can increase your landfill cart to a 64- or 96-gallon container for a fee. Your Oceanside recycling cart can hold paper, glass, rigid plastic, and polystyrene foam; your green waste cart can hold leaves, lawn clippings, and untreated wood. Waste Management and the City of Oceanside run Donation Weeks, during which you can donate gently used items to charity.
Waste Management picks up your Oceanside trash every week. The company will assign a service day to you. You must place your carts out by 6:00 a.m. on the collection day and remove them on the same day. The company charges $5.47 a month for waste collection on public streets and $5.15 a month for private streets.
AT&T Oceanside offers several different plans for residents. The Internet 300 plan gives you 300 Mbps for more than 10 devices throughout your entire home. You will pay $55 a month and a one-time installation charge. The AT&T Oceanside CA Internet 500 plan gives you 500 Mbps at $65 a month, while the Internet 1000 plan gives you 1,000 Mbps at $80 a month.
If you’re looking to package your internet, television, and cell phone services together, you should buy from Cox Oceanside. One package costs $122.99 a month for 12 months, and you receive unlimited nationwide calling, dozens of television channels, and 100 Mbps of internet connection. If you want to buy only internet, you can purchase several different plans. The Cox Internet Preferred 250 plan is the most popular option, providing up to 250 Mbps for $49.99 a month.
