At Republic Moving, we have the chance to build great relationships with local realtors. Realtors do so much to help people in the community whether they’re downsizing, changing jobs, or finding a dream home for their family. Our moving company prides itself in being able to share some of these relationships with you.
This month, we want to celebrate Jen Rierson of Palisade Realty. We took a moment to chat with Jen so that you can get to know a bit more about her.
1. How long have you been in the real estate industry?
I’ve been in real estate for 4 years.
2. What made you decide to become a realtor?
I loved the shopping and buying process when we bought our home years ago and contemplated the idea for years. I stayed home with our children for 12 years and by the time our little one reached kinder, I needed something self-fulfilling. I decided to get my license and “see where it went”. Last year, I received the Top Producer award in my brokerage for 2016, just three years into my career.
3. What differentiates you from other realtors?
I have a drive and passion for my job. I truly love what I do. I enjoy that each transaction presents new challenges and I’m a very determined and creative person. I can’t just throw in the towel, not only would I let a client down, but I would let myself down. I have great negotiating skills and always love to push the limits. I remember reviewing a difficult offer with my broker and he asked me, “You are asking for this? Do you really think the agent and seller are going to let this slide?” I said, “Well, all they can say is no and you never know until you ask”. Shockingly enough, it was accepted and never questioned. You have to be willing to really fight for your clients in this season of real estate we are in right now.
4. What piece of advice would you give someone looking to buy a new house?
Buyers need to take the time to sit down and interview a few different agents before deciding who to work with. You will spend a lot of time with this person. It’s kind of like dating. You really need to like them and most importantly trust them. If you have a good agent that knows what they are doing, they will be acting in your best interest. Trust them. Make sure they are educating you on the entire buying process. There are so many moving parts in real estate transactions and you really need to be armed with the highest amount of knowledge possible.
5. What is your favorite thing to do in the San Diego area?
My family and I love to take our RV out and just enjoy the beautiful areas there are here in San Diego. Whether it’s at the beach or in the mountains, we always find someplace great to camp. It’s all about making great memories with our kids and just enjoying life together.
